Endometriosis? Curcumin is for you!
Endometriosis is a disorder where endometrial lining is present outside the uterine cavity. The endometrium is the inner lining of the uterus. Usually, this tissue is shed with every menstrual cycle.
In endometriosis, this tissue grows outside the uterus, impacting ovaries, fallopian tubes and bowels. The tissue which grows outside the uterus has no way to leave the body. It gets trapped, forming cysts, scars, inflammation and adhesions. Endometriosis is an estrogen dependant disease.
The main symptoms of endometriosis are pelvic pain, painful periods, pain during intercourse, heavy bleeding during cycles, and even pain while passing stools or urinating. It also contributes to infertility. If you have it, you are often miserable.
Along comes Curcumin (also known as Tumeric). How does it help endometriosis? I’ve completed research on what scientists are saying about use of curcumin for endometriosis. The results are most encouraging.
Study 1: Curcumin prevents the growth of endometrial cells by reducing the production of the hormone estradiol. It counteracts the proliferative effect of estradiol, causing cell death and preventing proliferation (growth of abnormal cells).
Study 2: There is an enzyme that is high in endometriotic tissues: MMP. Curcumin reduced the secretion of MMP. Curcumin’s anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant properties also contributed to combatting endometriosis.
Study 3: Curcumin was found to inhibit the blood supply between endometriotic lesions, preventing its spread.
Study 4: Endometriosis causes severe pelvic pain, back ache and pain during bowel movement or urination. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS) are generally prescribed to treat pain. Curcumin acts in the same manner as NSAIDS but does not cause the side effects of stomach pain, heart burn and ulcers. Curcumin was found to be a great painkiller without side effects.
I can guarantee you that, in light of these studies pharmaceutical companies will come up with a synthetic version of curcumin that they can patent, sell to you, and reap the profits.
Just take natural Curcumin…available in the form of capsules.
I like this one: It contains 500 mg. You take 3 per day.
If you have endometriosis, give turmeric a try. And, of course, use progesterone…your FIRST line of defense.

NOTE: If you are on a blood thinning medication then turmeric supplements should be avoided.
