Skipping Cycles/ Irregular Periods?

October 29, 2019

Hello, ladies!

Are you In perimenopause OR are you younger than 40 and skipping cycles?  Let’s talk about it.

In perimenopause it is very common to be skipping. During perimenopause, periods can come and go. That is just the result of your ovaries shutting down and going into menopause. Do not be worried.  It’s NORMAL!

You may  not have a cycle for a couple of months and then have a very heavy one.  This alarms a lot of you. Heavy bleeding, Oh, no. you think.

Well, I know…we just want to be done with tampons and pads.  However, it is a good thing to have your lining shed.  You do not want a built-up uterine lining without shedding.  It can lead to precancerous cells.  So, your body is doing its job!

Estrogen is the dominant hormone at age 45 and older because most of us are no longer ovulating at that age. So progesterone is wonderful for you.

But how to use progesterone with irregular cycles?

Use progesterone for 25 days, then take a 3-5-day break.

If you do get a cycle, stop during the bleeding and let that be your break. If you bleed longer than 5 days, start the crème again on Day 5 regardless of bleeding. The more progesterone the better at this point.

Are you a younger woman who is skipping cycles?

There are a myriad of reasons your cycle may be irregular such as stress, dietary deficiencies, low body weight, getting off of birth control pills, PCOS and even early menopause.

Since the lining of the uterus is not being shed, it is very important to clear out the old blood and establish a healthy cycle again. This can be done naturally and effectively with progesterone and also herbal support.

I have talked with many women who have been offered synthetic estrogen or Birth control pills  to get their period regulated. Taking synthetic estrogen for this issue is NOT the way to go. A menstrual cycle that has stopped in NOT a disease.

If you want to restore your cycle, you will also use the progesterone as described above.

Use progesterone for 25 days, then take a 3-5-day break.

If you do get a cycle, stop during the bleeding and let that be your break. If you bleed longer than 5 days, start the crème again on Day 5 regardless of bleeding. Progesterone can restore regularity within 3 months in most women

 ProHELP Moisture Treatment Creme

For both groups, older and younger,  who want to try to restore a normal cycle, there are 2 great herbal helps

1. Vitex also known as Chasteberry:

Vitex supports hormonal balance in the body by having an effect on the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian axis which is your hormonal feedback loop and works to correct the problem at the source.

There have been numerous studies showing the effectiveness of Vitex for all types of menstrual cycle irregularities when used consistently for 2-3 months.

Vitex has been found to help normalize ovulation, improve a short luteal phase, support healthy hormone levels and reduce Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS).

Studies have shown Vitex to be extremely helpful in bringing back the menstrual cycle in women with absent periods due to eating disorders and lack of menstruation due to a history of breastfeeding.

My favorite: Vitex Chasteberry

2. Tribulus Terrestis:

Tribulus supports healthy hormone levels, is a known female reproductive system tonic and may increase libido. Tribulus has also been shown to normalize ovulation in infertile women.

 My favorite: Testron SX

Conclusion:

If you are trying to get your period back on track, start with progesterone.  Then add Vitex, Tribulus or both.

Just remember, it is normal for cycles to become sporadic during perimenopause, so don’t fret and worry
