Breast Cancer & Vaginal Dryness Options

Is vaginal estrogen safe for women who have had breast cancer OR do they have to suffer with untreatable vaginal dryness, atrophy and frequent urinary tract infections?

Good news, ladies! Placebo controlled trials have been conducted about the safety of vaginal estrogen for breast cancer “warriors” Placebo controlled studies are the “Gold Standard” because in these studies, some women are given the treatment and others are given a placebo and then the results are compared. So, researchers can verify whether a treatment is safe and effective.

Both the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the North American Menopause Society have written position statements noting that vaginal estrogens and DHEA are quite safe for breast cancer survivors, with minimal systemic absorption. “Minimal systemic absorption”means that what you put in the vaginal tract basically stays there and does not enter the blood stream in any significant amount. So, you do not need to be concerned about extra estrogen circulating in your blood stream.

When you use Vaginal Estrogen or Vaginal DHEA for dryness, quality of life goes UP and safety is not affected. A Win-Win!

No more suffering needlessly.
